An interesting and comfortable place to stay for those looking for a historical B&B experience. There is plenty of relaxing porch seating and a large yard with a hot tub if you plan on spending some time outside. The inside and outside of the mansion are well kept and it's not too hard to imagine former presidents Lincoln and Grant enjoying their visits here. The rooms are nicely furnished and match the quaint tone of the property. Breakfast was good and consisted of the kinds of food I would associate with a B&B. Current management Aunt Sally and Bets are welcoming and friendly.

This was a nice place to stay in a great location close to Main st but not in the thick of downtown noise. The Jackson room felt luxurious with a grand bed and really great updated shower and hot tub. A small electric fireplace under the tv provided good ambient noise. The toilet room could be better but I mean its a toilet, the toilet room does what it's supposed to. The bed was squeaky but I think that is to be expected from seasoned wood furniture (it wasn't the mattress, which was nice and plush). There was someone staying in the suite next to ours but we never heard any noise from them/outside our room. The billiard room was a nice touch and coffee is available all day via a keurig setup. There are also a few porches you can sip your Galena wine on. We didn't have very much interaction with the owner/host but we also didn't partake in breakfast and we kept later hours of coming and going. Overall an interesting property.

Charlie and Rita were the perfect hosts - they met us at the door, showed us to rooms that have to be seen to be appreciated - all the amenities of 2015, but the charm, beauty and luxury of 1860. The location is perfect - two short down hill blocks to the main busy main part of town - all listed on the National Registry. Breakfasts second to none, served by Rita and Charlie - followed by a short history of the Mansion and Galena. They anticipate needs, but do not hover. We stayed two nights - next time will be at least three - just to enjoy the hot tub, the English gardens and the warmth of a genuine welcome. Recommend this beautiful home without reservation.

During this unusual time of the coronavirus, my wife and I were able to take a rare trip to Galena Illinois. Having stayed multiple times in that beautiful tourist area, we were fully aware of the plethora of choices in which to stay. This Victorian Mansion is one of the few options to rest our heads which we have not utilized. What the owners have accomplished in such a short time of their remodel/renovation is quite incredible. The mansion and the grounds are quite exquisite. The local caretaker was incredibly responsive to any of our needs and made our stay extremely delightful.

We visited the Victorian House in April 2021 for a quick weekend getaway. It exceeded all expectations and we had such an amazing trip! We stayed in the Estey suite. I made the reservations online. Check in was super easy, the room was clean and comfortable and we loved the jacuzzi tub in the suite! There is a very cute continental breakfast in the morning with fresh coffee, bagels, fresh fruits, stuff to make mimosas- we loved it! Somethings to mention that I don't think I've read in previous reviews- there is beautiful original artwork EVERYWHERE. Like, gorgeous paintings. We loved walking around and looking at all the beautiful paintings everywhere. Another thing is there is a big wrap around porch on the first and 2nd level. Plenty of seating out there and each seat they've equipped with a candle and lighter. Overall, this place is AMAZING and has made me want to stay exclusively at B&B's in the future. It was quiet, romantic and beautiful. I hope to be back again!

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time staying in the Grace suite. The hot tub was functional and we enjoyed using it. The shower water pressure and temperature was awesome. The room was cleanly. It was heavenly waking up to the smell of breakfast. The breakfast was very good and our host Bets made sure we did not walk away hungry. Bets was very hospitable and does a great job of making you feel at home. The one drawback was that our room's fireplace was not working and the maintenance person happened to be out of town. That said, our stay was still very enjoyable. Also, Bets offered to let us stay another night for free and when we said we had to get back she was very lenient with check out time which allowed us to enjoy our hot tub and extra day. She also offered to discount our next stay. Our experience was very positive. We have decided that this will be our b&b choice next time we make it out to Galena. Thanks Bets!

A lovely and welcoming place to stay. Rooms are well appointed, period furnishings are delightful. Staff are warm and helpful. Location is central to most of what you'll do visiting Galena, yet the area is quiet and the beautiful grounds are private. Highly recommended.

Had a lovely weekend at the Galena Inn! Interior of the mansion was impressive. Stayed in the Julia Suite. Got the best of both worlds - a feel for the 1800s coupled with modern bathroom amenities. Can't wait to go back later in the year to see the mansion grounds in full bloom. If you frequent the wrap around porch, you'll likely see a deer or two. Breakfast service did not disappoint. Coffee was from a local Galena roaster, which was good as well. The innkeeper gave us all kinds of tips - where to go, what to see in and around Galena. Fried Green Tomatoes was recommended, friendly service. Say "hi" to Helena at the bar. It was a great place to eat and hang out. Hit Otto's for breakfast one morning - a must! We also ate at Chestnut Mountain and caught a spectacular sunset view of the Mississippi! Thanks "Paulina and Helena in Galena" for making our getaway weekend so enjoyable!
